Summer Smoothies

There is nothing like a Smoothie on hot summer days or for a quick on-the-run breakfast.

They can be made with any fruit you have on hand, mixed with a little water, soy or nut milk, seeds, nuts and anything else that might take your fancy. You only have to use you imagination to make tasty, nutritious smoothies.

1. Put the chopped fruit and other dry ingredients into the blender first.
2. Add liquid.
3. Fasten the lid and blend on high speed for about 20 to 30 seconds.
4. Check to see that no fruit is jammed.
5. Add a couple of spoons of crushed ice and blend again.
7. Adjust liquid by adding a little water if needed or if too watery add extra fruit.
8. Stir and serve.

A few ideas to get you going:

Lemonade
3 juicy apples chopped
1 medium lemon squeezed
1-1/2 cups water
Raw sugar to taste

Mmmm... Will try a few of those. Love the recipes I have tried already.

Banana, molasses, tahini, green spirulina, soymilk, nutmeg. :-)

A great blog....I'm a vegan (well sort off as I do eat fish). I'll have to come back and read more of your recepies Jackie. Would love to read about how to get more protein from a vegan diet.

WOW! Great recipes. I tried the Pineaple/Sunflower one and was pleasantly surprised by this unusual combo. I love my smoothies and can't wait to try every single one of yours :)
I can't help boasting about my blender though. It does such a good job taking every hint of roughness out of whole food ingredients. The Power Mill Blender has changed my life. There are a couple blenders out there that are as powerful but they cost about twice as much.
