Bloggers for Positive Global Change

Climate of Our Future (COOF) believe in blogging with a purpose. Many like us, but not all, write about the threat of global climate change and ways to reduce our carbon emissions. Others take on various other social and political causes that have to be tackled if humanity is ever going to preserve, persevere and progress. None of us have all the answers, but taken together we form a collective consciousness and wisdom that will help move our world in a positive direction.

COOF are creating an award meme to salute these efforts. This award goes out to all of the Bloggers for Positive Global Change. It’s not limited to any specific ideologies, religions or philosophies. It puts a premium on human compassion and the desire to make the world a better place for all of us, without exception.

One of my favorite enviro blogs A New Green Earth has kindly tagged me and I have the task, certainly not an easy one with so many great bloggers out there, of choosing five favorites of mine.

I personally feel that if we are going to slow down Global Warming we need to become Vegan and therefore, for a start, it will cut down on air pollution, water pollution and the excessive waste of water used in animal factory farming. Plus the extreme cruelty involved in it should not be acceptable to any human being.

So I decided to pick out a few favorite Vegan sites for my nominations, as they are people who really care for all living things and the planet. I have many favorites so it was not an easy task.

Notes from a Vegan Feast Kitchen Bryanna has the most tasty, nutritious, Vegan recipes on her blog that it would be hard for anyone not to enjoy them. Her website and books are also an inspiration for anyone willing to make the change.

The Bakehouse A great insight into one of many Vegan families. Dori and Dave grow and preserve their own organic veggies, homeschool the children, work, study and still seem to have time to cook delicious meals and have lots of fun. Dori also shares some of her great recipes with us.

The Milk-Free Blog This blog is run by Go Dairy Free. Although not a Vegan blog it has great ideas for living dairy-free and has excellent links. Their website has great recipes for making substitute dairy products.

Pisces Place Kleo, Peter and their dog Mattie (almost Vegans) have a great journal of what events they attend, great eateries they find, their travels and give great links on many things environmental, animal rights, important events, veganism etc. Great photos and graphics.

And to finish off a local South African enviro blog Urban Sprout with their interesting posts plus
their "ubergreen organic eco directory" helping South Africans find organic and eco-friendly goods.

If you would like to find out how you can participate in this meme call over to Climate of Our Future and check out the Awards Rules.

Thanks Jackie! How cool. In addition to dairy-free, our mission is all-natural living, and I follow many environmental blogs myself, so it is awesome to be included in this even as a site that isn't 100% vegan. I am compiling my award list now! - http://www.godairyfree.org

Hi Jackie,

Thanks for your comment in my blog and for your efforts to end this hunt. I'll keep my eyes open for any more news about the Namibian seal hunt. I did read through the comments in the Globe and Mail story, though. I will never understand how any human can condone the brutal killing of any species for sport or profit. It boggles.

I don't think I'll ever the the picture of the dead baby seal out of my mind.

Thanks for the visit slb. The seal hunt in Namibian kills all pups and most males (for sexual organs for Japanese virility) but not mothers so their excuse it is to stop loss of fish is lies as those mothers will breed again for next years butchery.
Good site to visit of a seal lover and a great fighter for them in this neck of the woods http://www.sealalert.org/

Hi Jackie. Thanks for our award and for drawing our attention to The Vegan Diet. We also believe that following a meat free lifestyle will make the world a better place! I love all the recipes so will be visiting more often. I'm putting together our award list at the moment...

This is my first time at your blog but I think the idea of Bloggers for positive global change is a great way to award people for their great work that is positively fueling the effort of global change.

Here's to all these great bloggers--including you, jackie--and to all vegans who do more for the environment each year by following their vegan diets than others might do if they bought a green car

I'm familiar with some of the blogs you've listed but I'll have to pop in on the ones I haven't visited yet.

I've been catching up on your posts. Your blog is always so informative. I'm definitely going to have to try the tasty taters recipe.

Aw, Jackie, thank you for the "shout out" and also even moreso for your kind thoughts about Mattie. She's on five meds right now, poor kid, but she seems to be faring better! i really appreciate your thoughtful ways, Jackie. Yer such a swimmingly beautiful Pisces!

Vicki's got a great blog about Global issues... check it out. i can only dream of being as much of an asset in the blogging world as she and also "green earth" - Winsome is a talented individual and caring voice in this often scary world.

Thank you for this post. It's so important that we all see that change starts with ALL of us... with each and every one of us... Yes, individually, it seems we move slowly but as a group, as two groups, as a dozen groups, as a whole plethora of groups get together and look for ways to save the Earth things will pick up... and changes, for the better, are sure to result.

Thank you for being a voice out there, Jackie. It's people like you who give me hope...

Congratulations jackie on an award well deserved. I was shocked to learn just recently when the attacks were being made public concerning Al Gore....that the consumption of meat products is actually one of the highest cause relating to global warming. There are so many of us out here that still are not well informed enough to truly be helping. I admire your efforst to help us learn. Hey did find the mystery woman yet? Great post...congrats again!!~jackie...lo..always seems odd signing my name as your name is Jackie also...great name don't you think?

jackie please feel free not to publish this...but, I can't find your shout box. You mentioned this morning about getting a new post up....and, you also commented on new leaders that will aide with peace. Now I know you are not truly a political blog...but, there are quite a few people involved in a new matrix traveling the blogosphere concerning our current political situation. You can find it at my political site. http://moondanzerdelivers.blogspot.com please feel free to participate if you are so inclined.
